Suffolk County Police arrested a man after a shooting in Central Islip.
Demetrius Williams was retrieving items from a parked vehicle on August 15 when a gray SUV drove past him on Hawthorne Ave. near Feller Drive at 6:10 a.m. An unknown person in the SUV fired two shots at Williams, striking him in the foot. Williams ran after the SUV and allegedly fired multiple shots at the vehicle.
Third Precinct Patrol officers responded to 221 Hawthorne Ave., where they arrested Williams, who was allegedly attempting to flee in an alleyway. He was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries.
Williams, 39, of Brooklyn, was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. He is being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 16.
