A Levittown man has been arrested for attempted assault and menacing after creating a disturbance at a deli.
On August 16 at 3:58 p.m., Nassau County police officers responded to La Fonda Deli, located at 46 Division Avenue in Levittown, for a male causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, they were informed that Jawon Rainey, 29, allegedly entered the establishment and was asked numerous times to leave. The defendant then allegedly became irate and attempted to strike an employee with his fist. He later left the establishment and allegedly brandished a knife, causing employees and patrons to fear for their safety. Rainey then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
Following a thorough investigation, Rainey was located and placed under arrest without incident. It was also determined that the defendant had allegedly previously been issued a trespass ban from the deli and was not permitted to enter the establishment.
Police charged Rainey with Burglary in the Second Degree, Menacing in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the Third Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He is scheduled to be arraigned on August 17 in First District Court in Hempstead.
