A Jericho woman has been arrested after she allegedly set fire in a hotel.
On August 10 at 2:37 p.m., Nassau County police officers from the Second Precinct responded to the Inn at Jericho, located at 101 Jericho Turnpike, for a disturbance. When they arrived, it was determined that Crystal Alston, 54, was observed by an employee of the establishment on live security camera allegedly exiting her room, holding a pillowcase that was on fire and throwing it on the floor. Alston then returned to her room. The employee extinguished the fire and called police.
After a thorough investigation, officers placed Alston into police custody without incident. A Nassau County Police Department Ambulance transported the defendant to a local hospital for evaluation. The investigation is ongoing.
Police charged Alston with Attempted Arson in the Second Degree and Arson in the Fifth Degree. She is scheduled to be arraigned on August 10 at First District Court in Hempstead.
