An Island Park man was arrested after allegedlty being involved in a fight with another man.
On May 9 at 4:05 p.m., Nassau County police responded to an Island Park residence for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were informed that a verbal argument allegedly occurred between Michael R. Leonetti, 29, and a male victim, 62. As the argument escalated, Leonetti allegedly pushed the victim to the floor and punched him in the head, causing him substantial pain. The victim, fearing for his safety, told Leonetti he was calling the police. At this time, Leonetti allegedly took the victim’s phone and threw it against a wall so he could not contact the police. This caused a hole in the wall and damage to the victim’s phone.
After the investigation, the defendant was allegedly found to be in possession of a pill bottle containing an unknown substance. Leonetti and four officers were transported to an area hospital for exposure to the unknown substance.
Police charged Leonetti with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, Menacing in the Third Degree and Assault in the Third Degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
