Nassau County police arrested an Inwood man for a robbery that occurred in North Lawrence.
On August 11 at 2:45 a.m., Edwin Alvarado, 32, approached a 25-year-old male, allegedly brandishing a knife and demanding his wallet and cell phone near the intersection of Rockaway Turnpike and Pearsall Avenue. After a brief struggle, the defendant fled the scene in an unknown direction with the victim’s cell phone. After a thorough investigation, Alvarado was located and placed into custody.
No injuries were reported.
Police charged Alvarado with Robbery in the First Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on August 12 at First District Court in Hempstead.
