A Queens woman was arrested for allegedly stealing the identity of a senior citizen in Garden City Park.
According to Nassau County Detectives from the Electronics Squad Fraud and Forgery Section, Doris Chou was a home health aide for a then-69-year-old woman. Between November 17, 2023 and November 21, 2024, Chou allegedly opened five credit card accounts and financed a car loan using the victim’s identity without her knowledge or permission. The total amount of unauthorized charges exceeded $138,000.
On July 21, 2025, the theft was reported to police.
The defendant surrendered without incident to detectives on August 21, 2026.
Police charged Chou, 56, of Oakland Gardens, with six counts of Identity Theft in the First Degree, Grand Larceny in the Second Degree and Grand Larceny in the Third Degree. She was arraigned on August 21 at First District Court in Hempstead.
