A Hewlett Neck man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute.
On August 8 at 2:33 p.m., Nassau County police officers responded to a Hewlett Neck residence for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were informed that a verbal argument reportedly occurred between Ahmed S. Khalil, 54, and a female victim, 50. The argument escalated and Khalil allegedly shoved the victim to the ground while threatening her. He then allegedly forcibly removed the victim’s cell phone from her hands and damaged it. Fearing for her safety, the victim fled on foot to a neighboring residence and dialed 911. A short time later, the defendant was located and placed under arrest without incident.
Police charged Khalil with Menacing in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree and Harassment in the Second Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on August 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.
