Hempstead Man Arrested for Criminal Possession of a Firearm

A Hempstead man has been arrested for criminal possession of a firearm during a traffic stop in Hewlett.

On June 23 at 8:05 p.m., Nassau County Strategic Response Team (SRT) Officers, while on patrol, conducted a Vehicle Traffic Law investigation on a gray 2011 Infiniti sedan on Peninsula Boulevard in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue.

After the investigation, officers recovered a loaded firearm from the vehicle. The driver, Jair Perry, 19, of 15 Downs Road, was arrested without incident.

Police charged Perry with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He is scheduled to be arraigned on June 24 at First District Court in Hempstead.
