Duo Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Items from Restaurant

Nassau County police arrested two women for allegedly stealing items from a West Hempstead restaurant.

On April 18 at 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at La Candela Restaurant, located at 205 Hempstead Turnpike. After dining in the restaurant, Jason Thompson and Dana Ardezzone allegedly removed various tableware items and concealed them in their to-go bags. After exiting the restaurant, two employees approached the defendants in an attempt to retrieve the items. Thompson allegedly shoved them out of the way and brandished a knife, placing them in fear for their lives. The victims immediately called 911. Upon the officer’s arrival, both defendants were placed under arrest without incident.

Police arrested Thompson, 45, of Bayside, with Robbery in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree and Menacing in the Second Degree. Ardezzone, 47, of Queens Village, was charged with Robbery in the Second Degree. Both defendants were scheduled to be arraigned on April 19 at First District Court in Hempstead.
