Suffolk County police arrested a Bay Shore man for stabbing a man in a church basement in Amityville last night.
On September 11, Daniel Escobar allegedly stabbed a 65-year-old man in the neck during a meeting at First United Methodist Church, located at 25 Broadway, and then fled the scene, at approximately 8:30 p.m.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Following an investigation by First Squad detectives, Escobar was located on Ackerson Boulevard in Bay Shore, where he was taken into custody at 10:22 p.m.
Escobar, 33, was charged with Assault in the First Degree. He was held overnight at the First Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 12.
