A Baldwin woman was arrested for multiple Grand Larcenies that occurred between December 2025 and July 2026 throughout Nassau County in which she allegedly fraudulently obtained deeds to multiple properties.
Aurelia Soogea, 39, allegedly executed a deed theft by targeting the residential property of a 75-year-old male The investigation revealed Soogea allegedly fraudulently transferred the deed of the victim’s home located on Maple Street in West Hempstead to her own name by forging various documents.
After an extensive investigation, Soogea was located and placed under arrest without incident. She was also allegedly found to be in possession of numerous pills believed to be Oxycodone. There were no injuries reported.
During the investigation, it was discovered Soogea was allegedly renting out multiple residential properties that she does not own to families throughout Nassau County between July 8 and July 28.
Commenting on this case, Tanya Hobson-Williams, an attorney who represents deed theft victims, said, “Deed theft often happens quietly, but its consequences are catastrophic. This case demonstrates that perpetrators can and will be held accountable.”
Police charged Soogea with Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. She was arraigned on July 31 at First District Court in Hempstead.
