Arrest Made in Mastic Beach Shooting

A Mastic Beach man was arrested for allegedly shooting two people earlier this week.

On June 1 at approximately 10 p.m., a group of people were arguing in front of a Mastic Beach residence when Matthew McCue allegedly drew a handgun and fired several shots at two of the people involved. The shooter fled the scene. 

The victims, a 25-year-old man and a 34-year-old female, were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

On June 3, Suffolk County police arrested McCue, 37, on two counts of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned later in the day at First District Court in Central Islip.
