Arrest Made in Fatal Stabbings of Two Women

Nassau County police have arrested a Valley Stream man for allegedly stabbing two women to death.

On May 1 at 12:27 a.m., Fourth Precinct officers responded to Wendy’s, located at 33 Austin Boulevard in North Long Beach, for a 911 call. Upon arrival, they located a 42-year-old woman who had been stabbed outside the restaurant. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic.

Later that day at 3:13 a.m., Fifth Precinct officers received a call from the Lynbrook Police Department for a wellness check at 90 West Mineola Avenue in Valley Stream. When officers arrived, they located a 32-year-old female who had been stabbed inside the residence. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic.

Rony Yahir Alvarenga Rivera, 22, was located by the Lynbrook Police Department. After a thorough investigation, he was arrested without incident.

Police charged Alvarenga Rivera with Murder in the First Degree and two counts of Murder in the Second Degree. He was arraigned on May 2 at First District Court in Hempstead.
