Two Girls Hit by Car, Driver Flees from Scene

Two girls were hospitalized after they were hit by a car that stopped then left the scene.

On May 22 at 10:30 p.m., Nassau County police from the Seventh Squad responded to Sunrise Highway in the vicinity of Merrick Avenue for a vehicular accident. Two girls, ages 15 and 17, were crossing Sunrise Highway when they were struck by an unknown dark-colored SUV. The male suspect failed to exchange information with the victims and left the scene, traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway. Both victims were transported to a local area hospital for minor injuries.
