Suffolk County police arrested a tractor trailer driver for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
On April 13, Highway Patrol officers responded after multiple 911 callers reported the driver of a tractor trailer was allegedly failing to maintain the lane of travel on the eastbound Long Island Expressway in Brentwood at approximately 7 a.m. Officers located the vehicle and determined the driver, Frederic Mejia, was intoxicated.
Mejia, 35, of the Bronx, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
Motor Carrier Safety Section officers responded to perform a safety inspection of the vehicle, which was carrying grocery items. The vehicle is owned by LV Carrier Corp and weighed approximately 80,000 pounds at the time of the incident.
Mejia is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on April 13.
