Three People Arrested Following Street Takeover

Suffolk County Police arrested three people following a street takeover involving at least 200 ATVs, dirt bikes, and motorcycles that began in Hauppauge.  

On July 25, police responded after receiving multiple 911 calls of ATV, dirt bike, and motorcycle riders allegedly driving recklessly and performing stunts on Route 347 in Hauppauge at approximately 4:20 p.m. Police officers from the Fourth Precinct responded, arrested two people and impounded several vehicles.  

The group disbanded and regrouped near Motor Parkway and Express Drive South in Brentwood. Highway Patrol and Third Precinct officers observed the group drive through Bay Shore when two ATVs became disabled at approximately 6:30 p.m. The operators fled on foot. One was apprehended and allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded gun. 

Ava Mongiello, 23, of Mount Sinai, and Jahkil Arroyo, 29, of Central Islip, were charged with Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer. They were issued Desk Appearance Tickets.  

Shamir Solomon, 22, of Roosevelt, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. He was also charged with Unlawful Speed Contest and Reckless Driving. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 26.  

Ten vehicles were impounded.
