Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was hit by a car in Mount Sinai early this morning.
On August 20, Ayden Vagner was driving a 2020 Acura westbound in the left lane on Route 25A, approaching Chestnut Street, when his vehicle struck Yerlin Amaya, who was crossing the road, at 12:55 a.m.
Amaya, 17, of Mount Sinai, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Vagner, 18, of Miller Place, was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
