Suffolk County Police Department, assisted by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and MTA Police Department, arrested seven motorists during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Central Islip.
Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau SAFE-T Team conducted a joint sobriety checkpoint operation with Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs and MTA Police Department at 870 Suffolk Ave. from 11 p.m. last night until 1:08 a.m. this morning. Volunteers and staff from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) also assisted, giving educational information to motorists.
The checkpoint was part of a holiday weekend enforcement crackdown targeting alcohol- and drug-impaired driving. A total of 462 vehicles went through the checkpoint.
The following were charged with Driving While Intoxicated:
- Williams Oberto, 49, of Central Islip
- Jose Molina, 56, of Brentwood
- Pedro Manuel Moncada Jimenez, 42, of Central Islip
- Edwin Edenilson Mena Guillen, 29, of Westbury
- Santiago Ariza Diaz, 22, of Central Islip
The following was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs:
- Ariel Estive Serrano Ochoa, 24, of Bay Shore
The following was charged with Driving While Impaired by the Combined Influence of Drugs and Alcohol:
- Gustavo Elias Henriquez Rojas, 28, of West Babylon
The above arrestees are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 4.
