Pedestrian Seriously Hurt in Crash in West Babylon

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in West Babylon last night. 

A man was walking in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, between Exit 37 and Exit 38, on September 1 when he was struck by a 2014 Kia Optima at approximately 8:30 p.m. 

The victim, whose name is not being released pending notification of next of kin, was transported to  Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the  Kia, Rosemarie Grispino, 50, of East Islip, was not injured.  

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the  crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152
