Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Bay Shore early this morning.
Ileana Cabrera was in the eastbound lane of Third Avenue, near Second Street, when she was struck by a 2009 Nissan, driven by Edwin Ortez, on July 25 at approximately 1:10 a.m.
The pedestrian, Ileana Cabrera, 29, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where she was pronounced dead. Ortez, 26, of Bay Shore, was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
