Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was hit by a car in Shirley this morning.
Theresa Nicke was walking on the right shoulder of Dawn Drive when she was struck by an eastbound 2013 Buick Regal near Pinelawn Avenue at 7:30 a.m.
Nicke, 64, of Shirley, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Buick, Dale Cronin, 23, also of Shirley, was uninjured.
The Buick was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
