North New Hyde Park Man Arrested for DWI

A North New Hyde Park man was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after he allegedly rear-ended a patrol car.

According to Nassau County Police, an officer from the Third Precinct was on routine patrol in North New Hyde Park on June 16, when he was struck from behind by a 2004 gray Infiniti sedan at 4:20 a.m.  The collision was witnessed by another patrol unit who was in the area on an unrelated assignment in the vicinity of New Hyde Park Road and Aberdeen Road. The operator of the vehicle remained on scene.

An investigation was conducted and the driver, Rene Dominguez Alonso, 38, was found to be intoxicated. Dominguez Alonso was taken into custody without further incident. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Police charged Dominguez Alonso with Driving While Intoxicated, Operating a Motor Vehicle with BAC of more than 1%, and Assault in the Third Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on June 16 at First District Court in Hempstead.
