Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Copiague.
A man was lying in the roadway of Vespucci Avenue, between Dante Avenue and Dixon Avenue, when a northbound 2011 Honda Pilot ran over him at approximately 10:45 p.m. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued northbound, then turned left on Dixon Avenue.
The victim, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives believe the victim was a Hispanic man in his late 30s.
The suspect’s vehicle was located in Copiague and impounded as evidence.
