Suffolk County Police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing another man after a road rage incident in Mastic.
Two motorists were driving on Ditmas Avenue in Mastic on May 19, when a conflict emerged between one of the drivers and a passenger in a 2005 Nissan. Both vehicles pulled over and the male passenger and the driver of the other vehicle exited their vehicles. After a verbal exchange, Jeremiah Giraud allegedly stabbed the other man with a knife in the neck at approximately 9:10 a.m. Giraud returned to the Nissan and the driver traveled west on Ditmas Avenue.
The 71-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital with treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A description of the suspect’s vehicle was broadcasted over police radio and Seventh Precinct Patrol units located the vehicle unoccupied in the parking lot of the Family Dollar, located at 1600 Montauk Highway in Mastic. While canvassing the store, police found and arrested Giraud at approximately 10:45 a.m.
Giraud, 25, was charged with Assault in the Second Degree. He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 20.
