Man Arrested for Menacing Following Road Rage Incident

Suffolk County Police arrested a man for menacing following a road rage incident in Melville. 

On July 23, Gary Donnelly was driving a white 2021 Ford Transit 250 van with ladders on top on Express Drive  South, near Route 110, when he allegedly began maneuvering the vehicle erratically while engaging in an argument with a black 2018 Dodge Durango at approximately 2 p.m.  

The two vehicles continued southbound on Route 110 before stopping near Spagnoli Road. The driver of the Durango, a 26-year-old Freeport man, exited his vehicle. As he approached the Ford, Donnelly allegedly drew a handgun and pointed it at him. The man backed away from the Ford and Donnelly fled the scene. 

Following an investigation by Second Squad detectives, Donnelly, 45, was arrested at his Huntington home at 6:26 p.m.,  and a loaded firearm was recovered. He was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 24.
