Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a jogger in Sayville.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting an injured female lying on the side of Brook Street, west of Cherry Avenue, on May 16 at 5:44 a.m. An investigation determined Michele Walters was jogging at approximately 5:30 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Walters, 60, of Sayville, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries.
The vehicle that fled the scene is described as a dark-colored SUV and may have front-end damage and/or front passenger-side damage.
