Female Passenger Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash

Driver Allegedly Fell Asleep

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that seriously injured a woman early this morning in Ronkonkoma. 

Joseph Michael Uhl was driving a 2004 Jeep SUV northbound on Ocean Avenue when he reportedly fell asleep. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in front of 2845 Ocean Ave. at 3:08 a.m. 

Uhl, 31, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger in the vehicle, Lauren Daley, 50, of East Northport, was transported to the same hospital for treatment of serious injuries.  

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
