Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating after a driver was seriously injured when his vehicle struck the rear of a box truck in East Farmingdale this morning.
On August 27, Jose Garcia-Morales was driving a 2012 Nissan Frontier southbound on Broadhollow Road at approximately 5:50 a.m. when the vehicle struck the rear of a 2014 Hino box truck stopped at the light at Michael Avenue.
Garcia-Morales, 25, of Copiague, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the box truck, James Gordon, 48, of Rockville Centre, and the passenger in the Nissan, Noe Reyes-Ramirez, 21, of Copiague, were transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A safety check of the box truck was conducted by Motor Carrier Safety Section officers at the scene, and the Nissan was impounded for a safety check.
