Driver Killed in Single-Car Crash on Northern State Parkway

A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Northern State Parkway.

On May 25 at approximately 8:30 p.m., the New York State Police responded to the Northern State Parkway westbound in the vicinity of the New Highway overpass (Exit 46) in the town of Smithtown for reports of a one car collision.

Upon arrival, troopers observed a 2010 Volkswagen EOS split in half with the driver and sole occupant ejected from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined erratic operation and unsafe speed as contributing factors leading to the vehicle exiting the roadway.
