Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist last night in Shirley.
Anthony Viola was operating a Ducati motorcycle westbound on Clyde Road when he went through a stop sign and crashed into the driver’s side door of a 2023 Kia SUV traveling southbound on Hounslow Road at approximately 7:20 p.m.
Viola, 44, of Mastic, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Kia, Robert Scaturro, 38, of Shirley, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
