LIMBA Presents: Does Long Island Need a Dragstrip? With Brian A. Cohen, DTM

Brian Cohen was introduced to Long Island Needs a Dragstrip in 2019. What began as a panel discussion on JVC Broadcasting’s LI News Radio show has grown immensely.

The idea for the dragstrip began in 2019. In 2021, it became a temporarily approved NHRA- sanctioned race track at the Grumman facility through Race Track Not Street. Drivers as young as seven and older than 70 have taken to the dragstrip in classic cars and showroom vehicles. This year marks the third year of the dragstrip’s existence.

In 2006, Cohen was promoted to sales manager, highlighting the importance of communication skills in the business world. He hosted various radio and television shows, including Strategies of Success, Comedy to Go Inc., and Live It Up with Donna Drake, in which he also served as executive producer. He also used his verbal talents as a stand-up comic and became an auctioneer.

He is currently the vice president of the Brookhaven Business Advisory Council, board member of the ECNY Foundation, emcee and co-facilitator for the Long Island Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and vice president of the Stony Brook Toastmasters Club. Mr. Cohen will discuss what a permanent dragstrip means to Long Island, how it will add to the local economy, the tourism economy and the long-term growth of Long Island’s workforce.
